On November 16, 2016 Spokane area credit unions came together and participated in Project Beauty Share® Christmas Bag Program. Over 25 volunteers including staff, administration and board members turned out to fill gift bags of cosmetics and personal hygiene products deserving for women within the region.
Project Beauty Share® is a 501(c)3 nonprofit which provides women in need with cosmetics and feminine products. It is an initiative to collect cosmetics and beauty products and distribute them through local agencies to women of all ages whose circumstances do not allow them to afford these products. It’s all-volunteer organization relies on dedicated individuals who embody the idea that “The Beauty is in the Giving”.
Susan Cerutti-Jensen, Marketing Director for Spokane Federal Credit Union, who helped organize the event stated:
The bags were filled with beauty items that we probably take for granted: body lotion, deodorant, razors, lip products, mascara and other items that help women who are often homeless, broken and battered feel loved and beautiful. These items help give homeless women a sense of confidence as they transition back into the workforce or attend school. Food stamps cannot be used for even the most basic hygiene or beauty items. – Susan Cerutti-Jensen
Credit Union Volunteers
This event had a high turnout with many Spokane credit unions represented. Volunteers came from:
- Numerica Credit Union
- Global Credit Union
- Safeway Federal Credit Union
- Spokane Federal Credit Union
With so many helping hands the quota of bags were filled in short order. Each year Project Beauty Share® brings a boost of confidence to thousands of our community’s most vulnerable women. For many of these women, the bags stuffed will be the only gift they’ll receive this Christmas.
